Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to All!- the motto when celebrating the time of the year. After all challenges and calamities in our lives here in Philippines, sometimes we feel sad to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

We might feel down and lonely but we must not forget to celebrate the birth of our Saviour. Jesus is the only one who knows everything and even if we see to it that the world today is very cruel, God made it that way to strengthen our faith to him.

No matter how simple it is to celebrate this Christmas, it is still happy when you are with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

Nobody loves me.

I’m going to go out

and eat some worms.”

This strikes us as humorous.

But it is a deep tragedy.

The child is telling us something about

an intense human need

that is not being satisfied

Because it is not being satisfied,

there is a sense of worthlessness.

This is a deep tragedy.

In his inimitable way

I suppose Snoopy would cut thru to the core and say:

” Happiness is a friend who lets you be yourself and still loves you”

To maintain our peace of mind and the proper perspective

we need at least one good friend.

The battle of beauty, brains and talent…

MNSHS representatives show off their unwavering beauty, brains and talent in the Ms. High School Minglanilla 2009 here in Minglanilla this August 21 2009.

4th year students, Mona Jane Cabanig and Niña Bianca Deiparine mesmerize and give their best as they carry the school’s name. All schools in the district of Minglanilla entered this beauty pageant not to impress and be popular but to represent their beloved schools.

First impressions are a success when Cabanig and Deiparine reached the Top 3 in the Talents Night last Aug. 13, 2009.

This is just only the beginning, but all I can say is… GO MINGSCIANS!

nutrimonth

“Wastong Nutrisyon kailangan, Lifestyle Disease Iwasan”

This is the theme of the Nutrition month celebration with the MNSHS students last July 31,2009 in MNSHS.

Equipped with cooking utensils and enthusiastic faces, the students battle and enjoy this event. Aroma of different dishes fill the air as contestants impressed the judges who are selected alumnus in the nutri-fiesta contest (Cooking demo).

Like a saint’s feast is the atmosphere in the school. Hanged banderitas, native and skirted tables, and palms and banana leaves everywhere. For them the most awaited moment is when they eat their delicious dishes. The party never ends as they rehearsed for the Nutri-ad contest.

Before that, the Mr and Ms. Nutrition pageant was also held. Contestants with charming smiles, intelligent minds and unique talents parade themselves representing each year level and section.

Contestants in Nutri-art unleashed their creativity when they made a painting using vegetables as stamps (vegetable stamping). Intelligence also reigned when selected students battled for the Nutri-quiz competition.

The culmination never ended when intermission numbers bloomed like the performance of SSG president, Gio Abastillas, with his violin and by the senior boys with one of Ms. Minglanilla 2009 contestant Mona Jane Cabanig.

Students entertained everyone during the Nutri-ad where some laughed and smiled as they perform their plays.

cory1A very sad feeling when everybody heard that the People Power Revolution or EDSA icon, Pres. Corazon Aquino, died due to cardiac arrest after complications of colon cancer last Saturday, August 1,2009.

Including me was grieved after I heard it. I assumed that the country was fallen after they have heard the news.

President Corazon Aquino was everybody’s inspiration as she done the extraordinary which made the Philippines a democratic country again after the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, was kicked off his position as the president. She led the EDSA revolution which is one of the symbols of the Filipinos love for democracy and for their country. After the successful revolution, she was declared president and the first Asian woman to became president.

A strong and courageous woman as they describe her. After the death of her husband, Senator Benigno Aquino who is also a leading figure for the fall of the Marcos Administration, she became a focal point and unifying force of the opposition against Marcos.

An inspirational and democratic figure. Her loss is one of the greatest pain of Filipinos. Despite of it, Filipinos still remembers her greatest values and the chapter she unfolds in Philippine history and democracy.

Look around us. In the past, peace ventured, trees and plants bloomed, and love was all around. Now, what do you notice?

Even I could answer the truth. The truth is today is really different than yesterday when technology doesn’t exist. But I didn’t say that technology is involved in to this. No. Look around you- people dying due to starvation, some government are corrupted, nature isn’t balance anymore, and evil starts to rupture among us, wars and bombings, justice isn’t its meaning anymore. Also, people aren’t thinking what is right and wrong.

Now, we reached the peak of civilization and innovativeness. We lived in comfortable and easy lives. Despite of it, some people are suffering and crying for help. Not only people but also, the earth. Global warming and pollution covers what God’s things grant into us. Animals are endangered and are already extinct.

Many problems showered all of us even the rich and poor. This is the time when we start to think clearly and make a change…

How about you… Can you heal the world?

I am really curious about Second Yr-Silver when I was in first year. They said that it is a really organized and good section, others say it is a scary and difficult one.

When I entered the sophomore life, I remembered that statement. Now, I know the mysteries of being a let’s just say, a Silver alumnus.

It is difficult though but I instantly managed it. We always stick to the time, clean every speck of dirt in our surroundings, and never forget to worship and pray to God and that’s the best part of being a second year.

Through the tears and regrets that we’ve experienced, we still love being a silvernian. The sound of the bell never leaves our minds. We even remembered that our adviser, Sir Luague (the disciplined and the toughest teacher of all) surrendered but that’s another story!

We learned a lot of being one of this section. I learn to be a leader and a follower, and we discover discipline at that time. We know family at that time because we work together as a team to make everything went well. We learn to jam and take a break even throughout the difficulties but it is a challenging and amazing chapter of our lives (and mine)

We will never forget the fun and the laughs we shared together. From the first day of class to the year end celebration, it is always be treasured for being one from the 2nd year silver.

brush1In a peaceful village he lived. He prepared for school and said goodbye to his mom. After he left, thinking that this day is boring and ordinary, he didn’t said a word.

In school, he is used to being bullying around, insulting around and even scowling around by people who are bigger than him, including boys and girls. ” I am so unfortunate”, he always thought.

On the same day, she is so nervous as she toured around her new school. As a newbie, she felt like being tortured because she had no friends to deal with. As she went to the classroom, she noticed that poor boy who is teased by his girl classmates. Naturally stubborn and strong-willed, she didn’t hesitate to defend the boy.

After the argument, he thanked her for being brave. Since then, he is the first friend she had met in this school. He gave her a tour, introduction and even showed her around the secrets of the campus.

As she looked at him, she is smitten by his kindness even he looked well, unusual. She thought of a plan that will give him the ultimate change of his life. She said to him that next week, she will give him a surprise.

A surprise?, he thought but didn’t ask. Next week, Saturday to be exact, she dragged him to the mall and give him a make-over. Is this sure?, the boy thought and was confused but he let her do her thing.

Goodbye glasses and hello new you!, she exclaimed. As he looked at the mirror, he was shocked of what he saw. He said, Is this me?. She laughed and saw him as a new person.

Everyone in the school was surprised as they saw the boy they insulted into a cute, social person. He was glad because there are no people to drag him around. The boy looked for the girl as the class ended.

At the school garden, the girl was happy for the boy because her classmates already respect him and admire him. He thanked her for everything. As she stopped talking, he stared at her for that time. He liked her for being determined, sweet, and kind and he know that he could not find any girl like her.

After the week, he called her to go to the nearby lighthouse. She was confused but she agreed. He waited for her until she came. She asked why did he call her here and right now. She noticed that unexplainable look of his face as he talked her about their relationship as friends. He said that she is like a simple brush, who changes his dull life into an exciting and colorful paradise. She blushed and was thankful to him. He didn’t throw the chance to speak out how he feel about her for the first time that stubborn stranger defended him in front of quirky girls. She never felt happier that day because she managed to meet someone she had changed like a simple brush.

Wilt Blossom

cherry2As she prepared for the day, she saw the cherry blossom tree as a beautiful plant because it is full of bloom. The school bus is here and its time for school thinking that it is just an ordinary and boring day

She arrived at the school. Normal flow as usual. Still, she didn’t mind. As she walked to the corridor, she noticed a boy sitting in a tree. Melancholy and silent, deep gaze overfill his eyes with a face that can’t be painted. She wondered why is he well, lonely.

She knew the boy as well because he is the son of the principal in the school. She thought, ” Oh, a teacher’s pet!” but never said a word. She continued to stroll still remembering that principal’s pet.

After school, she went home. As she checked her bag, she was surprised that her math assignment was left on the campus. She hurried back until she bumped somebody. To her surprise, it’s that boy again. He noticed that she is desperate so he accompanied her back to the school.

The two of them walked the dark corridor until she got her assignment. She thanked him for the favor until the two of them were apart.

As the boy settled in his home, he noticed the cherry blossom plant in the garden. He observed that it is wilting and dying but he didn’t mind. He remembered the girl he accompanied that night and he realized that he is so dumb because he didn’t know her name. He thought about it tomorrow and went to bed. As he rested, the image of the girl can’t leave his mind.

The next day, the boy saw the cherry blossom plant dead. As usual, he didn’t mind because it’s just a plant. As he arrived in the school, he noticed that everybody in the school is chaotic and worried. He asked somebody and was shocked about the terrible news. He realized that the girl yesterday was already dead because of a road accident. He never felt something that day, he is more and more depressed and suddenly, he saw a beautiful cherry blossom in the tree he settled in yesterday where he is melancholy. He hold the flower really soft and firm, without harming its vulnerable structure, thinking that it is the girl he admired for the first time after his loneliness.
