A very sad feeling when everybody heard that the People Power Revolution or EDSA icon, Pres. Corazon Aquino, died due to cardiac arrest after complications of colon cancer last Saturday, August 1,2009.
Including me was grieved after I heard it. I assumed that the country was fallen after they have heard the news.
President Corazon Aquino was everybody’s inspiration as she done the extraordinary which made the Philippines a democratic country again after the dictator, Ferdinand Marcos, was kicked off his position as the president. She led the EDSA revolution which is one of the symbols of the Filipinos love for democracy and for their country. After the successful revolution, she was declared president and the first Asian woman to became president.
A strong and courageous woman as they describe her. After the death of her husband, Senator Benigno Aquino who is also a leading figure for the fall of the Marcos Administration, she became a focal point and unifying force of the opposition against Marcos.
An inspirational and democratic figure. Her loss is one of the greatest pain of Filipinos. Despite of it, Filipinos still remembers her greatest values and the chapter she unfolds in Philippine history and democracy.
